Material and seal information to confirm with a supplier
Colour is not a material. Feel is not a compound. Here is what to actually ask for, and why the answer is given per exact model.
Material questions usually arrive as a description: the seal is black, or white, or feels like rubber; the body is brass, or looks like stainless. None of that identifies a compound or an alloy. Two very different elastomers can be the same colour, plating hides the metal underneath, and the same valve can appear in more than one finish.
This matters because material compatibility is a service-condition question. A compound that is unremarkable in one gas can be a problem in another, and the answer depends on the gas, the pressure, the temperature and the duty - not on what the part looks like.
What to ask for
- The body material for the exact modelAsked as a model question, not a family question.
- The seat and seal materialsNamed as compounds where the factory records them, not described by appearance.
- Any surface treatment or platingBecause it changes what you can see and what the surface does.
- The service the record coversA material record is made against a use. Say what yours is.
- Cleaning requirements, where they applySome services carry their own cleanliness expectations. Ask what the record says and what documentation exists.
Why the answer is per exact model
ANYI publishes what the factory recorded for each exact model, and where a material item has no confirmed record, the page says so rather than offering a plausible answer. That is deliberate: a material statement that turns out to be a guess is worse than an open question, because it travels into someone else's specification and stops being questioned.
It also means a material answer for one model is not evidence about another, even within the same family and even when the two look identical.
Questions about materials
Can you identify the seal material from a photograph?
No. A photograph can show condition, damage and geometry, all of which are worth sending, but it cannot identify a compound.
Our specification names a compound. Can you confirm it?
Send the specification with the exact model designation. We will tell you what the factory record holds and what would need confirming.
Is the same seal used across a family?
It is not safe to assume so. Ask per exact model.
Send the exact model, the gas and the service conditions, and our team will confirm what the factory record holds.
